We are JYT Legal

Jonathan, Yuo & Teh or “JYT Legal” is a multi-practice firm based in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are dedicated to providing exceptional legal services across diverse practice areas and to serve clients in diverse sectors.

Meet The Team

Jonathan Chok

Jonathan graduated from Multimedia University, and thereafter practiced law under the prestigious guidance of Ms. Summer Yap and Ms. Jessie Goh at Messrs Tan, Tan & Associates. He is also currently taking his Masters in Commercial Law at University of Malaya. With passion for the law, Jonathan is well versed in a wide range litigation matters, covering various topics, including but not limited to : •Contractual Matters; •Company Matters; •Construction Matters; •Insolvency; •Land Matters; •Employment Matters; •Intellectual Property Matters; •Family Matters; •Criminal Matters; and •Defamation. Thomas Teh

Thomas graduated with Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of London and he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2021. He started practice doing primarily general insurance matters, handling cases assigned by Pacific & Orient Insurance Co. Berhad, AmGeneral Insurance Berhad etc. He then progressed to corporate & commercial litigation where he has appeared in all tiers of the Malaysian courts, the Industrial Court as well as the Strate Management Tribunal either as counsel or co-counsel. In addition, Thomas’ expertise also extends to advising clients on corporate and other non-contentious matters. Thomas has recently expanded his focus to include the rapid growing field of cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets as he intends to assist clients in bridging the gap between conventional legal framework and technological advancement. Joseph Yuo

Joseph read law at Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom and was called to the Bar of England and Wales as Barrister-at-Law of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2021. He was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2022. Joseph’s primary area of practice is in construction, engineering as well as oil and gas. He regularly represents clients on all aspects of construction and engineering projects, dispute resolution, arbitration (domestic and international), and statutory adjudication under Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012. In addition to Joseph’s portfolio in construction and engineering disputes, Joseph also represents clients in civil and commercial litigation disputes. He has appeared in hearings at all levels of the Malaysian judiciary. Joseph has also recently brought over his legal expertise into the dynamic field of cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets with a commitment to providing practical legal solutions to the evolving needs of clients.

Justin Yap

Justin holds a LL.B (Hons.) degree from the University of Liverpool and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2022. His areas of practice encompass civil and commercial litigation, with a primary focus on construction, engineering and oil and gas disputes. Justin has represented clients across various dispute resolution platforms, including litigation, arbitration and adjudication. He has also appeared before all levels of the Courts in Malaysia. In addition to his core practice, Justin is deeply engaged in the fast-evolving field of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency finance. He assists clients in navigating the intricate legal landscape of blockchain and crypto law, offering guidance on compliance, regulatory issues, smart contracts, and the legal implications of decentralized finance (DeFi). His expertise in this area enables clients to leverage blockchain innovations while mitigating potential legal risks.
